Starting in 2004, with SCminiGP on a pocketbike, his first year racing, he earned Rookie of the Year and his first series championship as well as being elected Junior Rider Representative. Coming off of the success of the 2004 Rookie Year, the 2005 season looked promising with Drew to be the first American youth to be a contracted and fully sponsored factory rider, signing with Blata, the former MotoGP Constructor. Contesting both pocketbikes and a Honda NSR50, he secured a 3rd spot in his pocketbike class, 2nd in the NSR Cup and was again elected to his second term as Junior Rider Representative.
In 2006, Blata renewed Drew's contract where he secured the NSR Cup Championship, 2nd and 3rd in his other two classes and served his third and final term as Junior Rider Representative. In the summer 2006, Drew was invited to and attended the Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup tryouts in Valencia, Spain, an experience that opened his eyes to a whole new world and cemented his desire to be a professional road racer.
In 2007, Drew took the next step in his career. Starting mid season with WSMC on a stock 2001 Suzuki SV650, Drew earned his Expert Road Racing license and spent the remainder of the year learning the ropes of racing a full sized bike.
Final Results for the 2008 Season at WSMC, Drew Has Finished 2nd in 550 Superbike Class, Finished 2nd in Formula Twins Lightweight Class and Finished 2nd in Battle of the Twins Middleweight. Drew Finished the year out in 7th at WSMC and has an 87% success rate of podium finishes, 21 podiums out of 25 races. |
